Brief Research Description
The main aim of my research is to harness the potential of SINEUPs as a novel tool in gene therapy for neurological disorders.
During my career, I have been always interested in neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders, especially those linked to dysfunctions of the dopamine system. After working for three years in a pharmaceutical company developing antipsychotic compounds, I continued to work as a neuropharmacologist in characterizing the physiology of a new class of GPCRs, namely trace amine-associated receptors, and to understand their role in several brain diseases.
In the last few years, I focused my research on the potential use of SINEUPs as a novel treatment for Parkinson’s disease and other neurological disorders. Currently, I’m actively working on projects to develop SINEUPs for different neurodevelopmental disorders.
