Brief Research Description
The Immunomics Lab focuses on these three research lines:
1. Synovia-on-chip as a preclinical to clinical model for rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Development of patient-derived 3D synovial microtissues cultured in microfluidic (organ-on-chip) systems to model RA under physiological and pathological conditions. This platform enables prediction of individual drug responses, testing of novel therapeutic strategies and mechanistic modelling.
2. Omics sciences applied to precision immunology. Deep immunophenotyping of peripheral blood immune cells in autoimmune and neuroinflammatory diseases using multiparametric flow cytometry and imaging mass cytometry. Advanced unsupervised analyses allow identification of novel pathogenic cell subsets, biomarkers, and therapeutic targets.
3. Eukaryotic and bacterial extracellular vesicles. Investigation of extracellular vesicles as mediators of immune communication and potential therapeutics. Focus on microbiota-derived vesicles and postbiotics as immunomodulators in RA and chronic inflammatory diseases, elucidating their mechanisms and translational potential.
