BONA Elisa
Research Activity
Brief Research Description
The research activity of Pro. Elisa Bona, who coordinates the activities of the MicroDiversityLab, focuses on the study of the human microbiota (intestinal, skin, lung, etc.) under physiological and pathological conditions. In particular, the Lab deals with the study of the microbiota in pediatric patients and obese adults, the effectiveness of dietary interventions and the impact of probiotics and prebiotics. Finally, the Lab is involved in the study of the predictive role of microbiota modulation in the therapeutic efficacy of immunotherapy in patients with advanced pleural mesothelioma.
The MicroDiversityLab is also involved in the study of soil microbial communities associated with the cultivation of tomato, rice and other food crops. In particular, the impact of different cultivation methods is studied, as well as the impact on the soil microbial flora of bacterial-based biostimulants (plant probiotics).
