Full Professor of Food Chemistry, to date serving as Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UPO (Novara, Italy). Expert in food chemistry and food biotechnology areas, with more than 30 years of activity.
Past-Chair of the Division of Food Chemistry and former member of the Executive Board (EuChemS, Brussels); former Chair of the Food Chemistry interdivisional Group (SCI, Rome); he served as member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of ILSI Europe (2000-2005, Brussels). Member of the Food Allergies Board of the Ministry of Health in Italy (Rome, IT). Chair and co-organizer of international Congresses (EuroFoodChem; Pigments in foods; CoCoTea; In vino Analytica Scientia; RAFA, and more).
His main scientific interest is related to food quality, safety and integrity assessment, especially focusing on the development and characterization of new “functional” ingredients for food and food supplements, also including the up-cycling of food by-products.
